Keep per below. I now believe historical photos are superior to edited versions because they're, well, the original copy. --Zzzs (talk) 14:33, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Neutral, I like the colors of the existing file, but the others’ comments are too numerous not to be convincing. - Jarrod Baniqued (talk) 07:42, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Keep With a picture like 'Earthrise' that has gained so much of its value from its iconic status, it is IMO appropriate to feature the version of it that is most similar to the 'famous' version, as opposed to a version that may be of higher technical quality. The proposed replacement is clearly a better quality image but if we want to feature a good quality photo of the Earth above the lunar surface, we shouldn't feature this image at all because it has long been superseded by photos from new space probes. Its value comes from its historical and cultural importance, not its technical quality. The iconic version of the picture, the one used by most sources including NASA themselves, is the current FP, and so that is the one we should feature. •  Keep I agree with Cmao20. --FreCha (talk) 14:01, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep The two pictures are two different things, even though they reproduce the same data. The older one has an historical value. It has been reproduced as such on newspapers, books, stamps, etc.: en:Earthrise. The newer one shows a more realistic version of the other, as "it had must be" if all colours would had been well balanced. There is a lot of technical job behind, and it has also a very important value, but mainly in the comparison with the other one. According to me, the newer one deserves to be enlisted among the featured picture, but not in substitution of the other one. --Harlock81 (talk) 12:06, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
