  •  Comment This image is well-exposed, low-noise, with good depth of field. Since no expert on European insects has reviewed this image, I will comment briefly. The face and abdomen are partially obscured, but I couldn't find much information about this species so I don't know if it is valuable to see those parts. The hairs on the legs, especially the third leg, and near the eye are shown very well. These may be notable or distinguishing features. The dark wings are well-depicted. File:Xylocopa_kleptolektie.jpg is used in more articles, but it was uploaded earlier and is not as good in technical quality and is not geocoded. •  Info - I'm almost sure the ID is correct. Some time ago I had a long convesation with an European specialist (Christian Schmid-Egger, see: [1]) on my Xylocopa pictures. -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 15:54, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment I am not disputing the ID, nor am I competent to judge the image, but it is good and deserves comment. Walter Siegmund (talk) 22:58, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment No problem identification, but it would be desirable to see the specimen from above and not on the side. It's spring and Xylocopa violacea returns.
