I have even seen a magpie exhibit similar behavior towards a swamp harrier with a wingspan of ~1.5 meters. What would you suggest as a suitable scope? The shown behaviour is also not typical for Australian Magpies, many other bird species display similar behaviour towards raptors. They are known for their particularly aggressive behavior towards intruders, A significant portion of the english wikipedia article is devoted to the subject (see w:Australian_magpie#Swooping). I saw another one chasing a bird of prey today. I have also often seen them swoop non threatening species. With this information in mind, what would you suggest as a useful scope? Is this term directly applicable to magpies where it is usually just the male?
