Scope Nominated as the most valued image on Commons within the scope:
Józef Piłsudski as young first President of the Republic of Poland
Used in Global usage
Reason Today, Poland has lost his President in dramatic circumstances. It's time, maybe, to remember the man who became first President of this country just after WWI. I think that this picture was unknown in "Commons" until today, and it shows a man between the status of soldier and the status of stateman. -- Jebulon (talk)

  • Can we get a copyright check on this? As the person who scanned it, you can't release it into the Public Domain. That said, so long as it was published in Poland, it's fine under {{PD-Polish}}. Adam Cuerden (talk) 14:29, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's the first time I publish a scan made by me. I don't know if it was published in Poland, may be it was a photograph made by and for a french journalist of this magazine, ("L'ILLUSTRATION"). No credits (sometimes they are) nowhere. According to the french law, I think it is in public domain.---Jebulon (talk) 15:25, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comment - Your supposed scope is rather a description, not a proper scope. --Rastaman3000 (talk) - Visit my new user-page! 17:14, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I respectfully disagree with you. The description could be: " Vintage photograph of a man in uniform with a big mustache sitting at a table reading or correcting documents, a pen in right hand and a cigarette in left hand"--Jebulon (talk) 22:45, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It might also be a description, but the suggested scope is too long, and is missing the purpose of being a scope. a better scope would be Józef Piłsudski - Without any descriptions. --Rastaman3000 (talk) - Visit my new user-page! 16:53, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Piłsudski was Chief of State (Naczelnik Państwa) but he never was President! The first polish President was en:Gabriel Narutowicz --Pudelek (talk) 17:34, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Oppose Inaccurate scope and description, misleading image because of the caption included, plus some doubt about the copyright (might have been publised in Poland with credit first). --Myrabella (talk) 06:56, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  CommentThank you very much for correcting all my mistakes, next time I'll be more careful, attentive and serious. I still disagree with Rastaman3000, it's for me evident that this picture is not the most valuable for scope Józef Piłsudski, too large for such a picture. Sorry for the "Chief of state", It's for me very interesting to learn about that, I'll read more about this glorious history. Finally, I agree with the oppose of Myrabella, except one point: the doubt about copyright. It's no doubt, I mean. It' a scan (thanks for better licensing, I was wrong here too) of a french newspaper, I've got the original of this magazine, published in 1919, now in public domaine (a french speaking discussion about that would be wonderfull for me, because of my poor English). Well, I'll be back with this photograph and another presentation ! VI candidacy is sometimes very difficult, but exciting too. ----Jebulon (talk) 09:22, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Question Might a scope like Józef Piłsudski as preliminary chief of state be useful? With the text cropped away. --Ikar.us (talk) 18:57, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Question Indeed, I thought about something like that. But if I change the picture by cropping the caption away, It may be another nomination, if I'm not wrong ? ----Jebulon (talk) 20:47, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
invalid nomination, withdrawn --Ikar.us (talk) 23:10, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
