Михаил сведал и не ужаснулся; отслушав Заутреню (ибо с ним были Игумен и два Священника), благословил сына своего, Константина; поручил ему сказать матери и братьям, что он умирает их нежным другом; что они, конечно, не оставят верных Бояр и слуг его, которые у престола и в темнице изъявляли Государю равное усердие. Час решительный наступал. Михаил, взяв у священника Псалтирь и разогнув оную, читал слова: сердце мое смятеся во мне, и боязнь смерти нападе на мя. Душа его невольно содрогнулась. Игумен сказал ему: «Государь! В сем же Псалме, столь тебе известном, написано: возверзи на Господа печаль твою». Великий Князь продолжал: кто даст ми криле яко голубине? и полещу и почию... Умиленный сим живым образом свободы, он закрыл книгу, и в то самое мгновение вбежал в ставку один из его Отроков с лицом бледным, сказывая дрожащим голосом, что Князь Георгий Даниилович, Кавгадый и множество народа приближаются к шатру. «Ведаю, для чего, - ответствовал Михаил и немедленно послал юного сына своего к Царице, именем Баялыни, будучи уверен в ее жалости. Георгий и Кавгадый остановились близ шатра, на площади, и сошли с коней, отрядив убийц совершить беззаконие. |
