2. Hängeplan Bildergalerie Sanssouci. Die 1764 publizierte Ersthängung umfasste 146 Gemälde, die in einer sogenannten „barocken Hängung“ in mehreren Reihen über- und nebeneinander gehängt waren. Durch Ankäufe wuchs die Anzahl der Gemälde bis zum Tod Friedrichs des Großen im Jahr 1786 auf fast 180 an. Im Westflügel und dem mittleren Kuppelsaal befanden sich Werke Rembrandts und seiner Schüler sowie die besten Künstler der flämischen Malerei des 17. Jahrhunderts, in erster Linie Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony van Dyck und Abraham van Diepenbeeck (in damaliger Zuschreibung). Im Ostflügel befanden sich (nach damaliger Zuschreibung) Werke der hervorragendsten Vertreter der italienischen Hochrenaissance und des Barock – unter anderem Leonardo da Vinci, Raffael, Tizian, Guido Reni, Carlo Maratta, Ciro Ferri und Andrea Celesti. |
