Description1903 Martiny US presidential seal.png | A bronze plaque of the Seal of the President of the United States, made from a model by sculptor Philip Martiny in 1903, and installed in the floor of the north entranceway of the White House (directly beneath the lantern) during Theodore Roosevelt's administration. Also placed in the floor nearby was an inscription of "1792-1902" in an ellipse of 45 stars (the number of states at the time). During a 1948 renovation, President Truman had this plaque moved to above the door to the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House, where it remains today. | |||||
