Français : Panneau de briques : lion passant - Époque néo-babylonienne, règne de Nabuchodonosor II (604 - 562 avant J.-C.) - Babylone (Iraq)
Ce panneau appartenait au décor de la Voie Processionnelle de Babylone qui conduisait du temple de Marduk au temple de l'Akitu, en passant par la Porte d'Ishtar. Le lion est l'animal attribut de cette déesse. Le cortège des prêtres empruntait cette voie lors des cérémonies de la fête du Nouvel An qui se déroulait à l'équinoxe de printemps. La Voie Processionnelle, mise au jour au cours des fouilles allemandes de Babylone, est partiellement reconstituée au Vorderasiatisches Museum de Berlin. |
