English: McMurdo nurse Shawn Waldron sets up the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing equipment in the Crary Laboratory. The machine will detect the genetic information of the COVID-19 virus collected on a swab inserted into the nose.
NOTE: When in actual use, personnel will be wearing personal protective equipment. The National Science Foundation has machines for the three U.S. research station medical clinics. |
