Portrait painting of William Henry Nassau de Zuylestein, 4th Earl of Rochford (1717-1781), three quarter length, in peer's robes, Ambassador to Madrid and Versailles and Secretary of State, signed and dated 'B. Dandridge pinxit 1735'. Oil on canvas, in gilt wood frame, moulded with trailing flowering branches between shaped oblong medallions. "William Henry Nassau de Zuylestein, 4th Earl of Rochford was born on 17 September 1717 at St. Osyth, Essex, England. He was the son of Frederick Nassau de Zuylestein, 3rd Earl of Rochford and Lady Bessy Savage. He married Lucy Yonge, daughter of Edward Yonge and Lucy Chetwynd, in 1740. He died on 28 September 1781 at age 64. He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.). He gained the title of 4th Earl of Rochford. |
