English: Trochus niloticus
Polski: Muszla ślimaka z rodziny trochusów (skrępów) ma kształt z profilu trójkąta równobocznego. Skręty gładkie, jedynie z delikatnymi, ukośnymi prążkami. Na pierwszych skrętach cylindryczne guzki w pobliżu płytkiego szwu. Ostatni skręt wypukły. Przy szwie wąski, jasny pas. Wewnątrz jest wyłożona grubą warstwą mieniącej się masy perłowej. Trochus niloticus jest poławiany na wielką skalę dla pozyskania masy perłowej na guziki i inne wyroby. Muszle o grubej warstwie masy perłowej używano do wyrobu naramienników, przy czym z jednej sztuki wykonywano jeden naramiennik. Resztę użytkowano do wyrobu galanterii, guzików, ozdób. Rabunkowe połowy tego ślimaka spowodowały, że w wielu okolicach, np. w Nowej Kaledonii, ich ilość zastraszająco zmalała.
