Description
Jeremiah is one of the twelve prophets that line the parapet of the staircase to the Basilica of Our Good Lord Jesus of Matosinhos in Congonhas do Campo, Minas Gerais. Aleijadinho, whose real name is Antõnio Francisco da Costa Lisboa, created these life-size sculptures in soapstone between 1796 and 1804.
