Description
English: Misidentified as "Antonio Stradivari", more likely Claudio Monteverdi
This portrait is in fact not of the violinmaker Antonio Stradivari, but is the portrait of Claudio Montiverdi, a 16th - 17th century baroque composer, but was confused as being a portrait of Stradivari in the 19th century, as determined by the Hill family of the 19th and 20th centuries England, this information recorded in the Hill's famous book about Antonio Stradivari, his life. I hope I have been helpful.
Date 1886 (engraver)
