Description
English: A digital representation of the coat of arms of George M'Alla. This illustration was created for Clans of Scotland project of English-speaking Wikipedia.
The blazon used to create this image was taken from page 635 of The General Armory of England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, by Bernard Burke, published by Harrison & sons in 1864. This coat of arms is listed for "Macaulay (Edinburgh, 1672)"; the blazon given is "The same, within a bordure indented or. Crest - A boot couped at the ankle, thereon a spur all ppr. Motto - Dulce periculum". The coat of arms listed just prior to this one is that of "Macaulay (Ardincaple, co. Argyll)"; blazon: "Gul. two arrows in saltire ar. surmounted of a fess chequy of the second and first betw. three buckles or" (illustrated here: File:Arms of MacAulay of Ardincaple.svg). The source states that this coat of arms was granted in 1672. It was granted by the Lord Lyon King of Arms.
