Description
Nederlands: De verslagen van de reizen die de Nederlandse ontdekkingsreiziger Johan Nieuhof omstreeks het midden van de 17de eeuw naar China ondernam, spraken zeer tot de verbeelding van het toenmalige lezerspubliek. Bij verschillende Amsterdamse uitgevers werden de belevenissen van Nieuhoff gepubliceerd. Ook dit gezicht op het paleiscomplex van de Chineze keizer is uit een dergelijk boekwerk afkomstig, mogelijk een uitgave van Jacob van Meurs.; Middenonder een verklaring van de cijfers (1-11).
English: The travel journal of the Dutch explorer Johan Nieuhof from around the middle of the 17th century to China, became very popular for a large audience. Several Amsterdam publishers published Nieuhoffs experiences. This view on the palace complex of the Chinese Emporor is taken from one of his travel journals, probable published by Jacob van Meurs.
