Description
English: The general map was produced at about the time when the Ming dynasty was toppled and the country came under Manchu control. The provinces of modern China retain most of their 17th century divisions and a comparison between Martinis picture and the modern outlines shows impressive similarities, highlighting the quality of the oriental maps Martini must have copied. He also removed remaining doubts about the the peninsularity of Korea, and offers here his new and influential outline for Japan.
