Nederlands: Dit beeld is voor zover bekend het laatste dat Adriaen de Vries maakte. Het ademt in alles de geniale en eigenzinnige stijl waar hij zo beroemd om is. De houding van de figuur is heel dynamisch en het lichaam is losjes gemodelleerd, waardoor het brons iets schetsmatigs en spontaans krijgt. Met deze stijl was De Vries zijn tijd ver vooruit: pas enkele eeuwen later zou deze manier van modelleren door beeldhouwers vaker worden toegepast.
English: This sculpture is known to be the very last that Adriaen de Vries made. It breathes in all the genius and selfish style he is so famous for. The attitude of the figure is very dynamic and the body is loosely modeled, giving the bronze something sketchy and spontaneous. With this style, De Vries was far ahead: only a few centuries later, this method of modeling by sculptors would be applied more often.
