C'est une composition faire à partir des armes des Rohan-Guéméné (Louis Ier de Rohan, seigneur of Gueméné, est le père de Pierre de Rohan, seigneur de Gié), avec en abîme les armes des Visconti, issus de celles des seigneurs de Montauban dont fait parti la mère de Pierre de Rohan-Gié.
