Description |
In the lowest zone, the detail from the Apostles' Windows shows the dying of the martyrs in an incredible way. Mauritius, his neck cut by a sword, red blood pours over his chest; Sebastian, pierced by arrows, which also results in streaming blood over his heaving chest. Each of the two dying men is accompanied by a female lament figure. The subliminal eroticism of these images is unmistakable, which led to controversy in public after the windows were installed. |
