Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The coat of arms of Tiszakeszi
Magyar: Tiszakeszi címere
Tiszakeszi címere: hegyes talpú címerpajzs, kék mezejében (címertanilag) jobbra úszó ezüstkecsege.
A település legrégibb pecsétje a 18. századból ismeretes, lenyomatát a Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén Megyei Levéltár őrzi. Ez halat ábrázol, fölötte a felirat "KESZI".
Tekintettel arra, hogy középkori eredetű településről van szó, a stílusában ennek megfelelő pajzsformát választották a tervezők. A pajzs kék színe utal a Tiszára. A hal alakja a régi pecséten nem azonosítható egyértelműen. A halak közül a kecsegét helyezték a címerbe (a szabályoknak megfelelően fölismerhetően, de egyszersmind egyszerűsítetten ábrázolva).
A kecsege a tokfélék közé tartozik, s a Tisza különleges halának számított a vizával együtt.
A középkorban nagy vizafogók voltak a folyó ezen szakaszánál. A zászló színének megválasztásakor a település nevéből indultak ki. A "KESZI" név a honfoglaló magyar törzsek egyikére utal. A település Árpád-kori eredetű, s Árpád-házi királyaink zászlaján tűnik föl a vörös-fehér (ezüst) sávozás.
