Object history
English: Coat of arms of the Danish town Frederikssund. In use from 1870 to 1987 when it was replaced by a simplified version. The falcon has a long history as a symbol of Frederikssund. In 1630 the mayor of nearby Slangerup introduced the ferry over Roskilde Fjord. His name was Falch Olsen and he lived in a mansion named Falkenborg. This name was also used for the small village that grew around the ferry landing and was granted city privileges in 1660 as Frederikssund.
Dansk: Frederikssunds byvåben. I brug fra 1870 til 1987, hvor det blev erstattet af en forenklet version. Falken har en lang historie som symbol for Frederikssund. I 1630 oprettede Slangerups borgmester Falch Olsen en færgeforbindelse over Roskilde Fjord. Falch Olsen boede i et hus ved navn Falkenborg. Dette blev også navnet på den landsby, der opstod omkring færgelejet, som fik købstadsprivilegier under navnet Frederikssund i 1660.
