Description |
Cantate exécutée par les jeunes filles des quatre "ospedali" lors de la visite incognito à Venise du 18 au 25 janvier 1782 des héritiers du trône de Russie : le grand duc Paolo Petrowitz, fils de Pierre III et de Catherine II, puis tsar sous le nom de Paul Ier, et son épouse. Trois soirs de suite, des spectacles ont été donnés en leur honneur au "Casino dei Filarmonici" représenté sur la toile. Quatre hospices musiciens ont été fondés à Venise par des religieux ou des civils aux XVIè et XVIIè siècle, en période de famine, pour recueillir les enfants trouvés dans les rues, orphelins ou malades. Ces établissements subsistaient grâce à la charité publique, les enfants y apprenaient un métier pour leur permettre de s'insérer dans la société. Des maîtres de musique étaient présents dans chaque hospice mais les leçons de musique y étaient réservées aux filles. Entre 1650 et 1750, la musique y occupe une place grandissante. Le "choeur" d'un établissement pourra compter jusqu'à 100 jeunes filles, chanteuses et instrumentistes. |
