Nederlands: De Nederlandse legatie in de Chyoo-tempel in Edo (het huidige Tokyo). De foto is genomen door Felice Beato (c.1815 of c.1834 – c.1907), een Brits-Italiaanse fotograaf die jarenlang door Azië reist. Hij fotografeert verschillende historische gebeurtenissen, zoals de Tweede Opiumoorlog en een opstand in India in 1857. Hij woont lange tijd in Japan, en leert veel Japanners de kunst van het fotograferen.
English: The Dutch delegation in the temple of Chyoo in Edo (present-day Tokyo). The photo was taken by Felice Beato (c 1815 or c 1834 – c. 1907), a British-Italian photographer who traveled through Asia for many years. He took photos of various historic events, such as the Second Opium War and a revolt in India in 1857. He lived in Japan for a long time and taught many Japanese the art of photography.
