Object history Provenance: acquired by the Rumyantsev Museum from the collection of S.K.Govorov (Moscow) in 1918; in the Pushkin Museum since 1924.
Notes Traditional attribution. Portrait-like depictions of boys and youths are often encountered both in paintings and in artists' drawings. While studying in the workshop of his father, Alessandro Allori, between 1590 and 1600, Christofano, apart from copying works by Raphael and Fra Bartolommeo, painted a large number of portraits. He took men of his own age as models – young painters working side by side with him in the same workshop.
