Object history
Deutsch: Dem angeblich seit 1545 geführten Stadtwappen liegt der von Silber und Schwarz gevierte „Zollernschild" der Markgrafen von Branden-burg-Ansbach zugrunde. Als Unterscheidungsmerkmal zum Stammwappen der Stadtherren zeigt das Stadtwappen die beiden Rosse, die sich — der Tradition zufolge — auf die einst bedeutende Pferdezucht beziehen. Während in früheren Darstellungen des Wappens von Gerabronn, so in einer farbigen Abbildung von 1719, silberne Rosse in unterschiedlicher Stellung auf den schwarzen Feldern des Zollernschildes wiedergegeben sind, erscheinen die Rosse spätestens seit 1902 schwarz auf den silbernen Feldern. Diese Form und die Darstellung steigender Rosse wurde 1953 durch Gemeinderatsbeschluss verbindlich eingeführt. Das Landratsamt hat die Flagge am 16. Mai 1980 verliehen.
