| Object history |
Deutsch: Das von Wolfgang Pagenstecher entworfene Wappen wurde der damaligen Gemeinde am 6. August 1935 vom Oberpräsidenten der Rheinprovinz in Koblenz genehmigt. Grundlage ist das "Sigill der Scheffe zu Volberg 1556" des alten bergischen Landgerichts Volberg, das durch Herzog Wilhelm verliehen war. Der Löwe deutet auf die frühere Zugehörigkeit zum Herzogtum Berg hin. Das Jagdhorn deutet auf die Lage am Rande des Königsforstes hin. English: The arms are based on the old seal of the court of Volberg. The former municipality was comprised most of the old jurisdiction of Volberg. Volberg was part of the County of Berg, and thus the upper part of the arms shows the lion of Berg. The lower part (a hunting horn) probably symbolises the rich forests (Königsforst) in the area. |
