English: Rank insignia of the German Army 1871 until 1918, here shoulder strap of the Imperial-German Army: four parallel double plate-braids (with angular cross-pattern in black) white one golden officer´s star "First lieutenant , on black padding indicating the corps colour of the engineer troops.
