Tre delle quattro sovrapporte collocate nella sala del Pranzo raffigurano Eleonora Maria Teresa Principessa di Savoia, figlia di Carlo Emanuele III. Il confronto con gli altri due ritratti della principessa conservati in questa sala e con quello nella sala della Colazione (locale n. 20) oltre che con opere certe di Domenico Duprà, come il ritratto di Maria Antonia Ferdinanda di Borbone Spagna, firmato e datato 1751, conservato a Palazzo, suggerisce la possibilità di assegnare a questo maestro o alla sua cerchia anche l'esecuzione di quest'opera. L'inventario del 1966 non riporta precedenti numeri di catalogazione ma dalle fotografie eseguite durante il restauro condotto nel 1993 da Dalla Nave - Perugini, è stato possibile rintracciare il n. d'inventario D.C. 1295 (ASTO, Sezione Camerale, Casa di S. M., Reg. n. 4568, Inventario degli Oggetti d'Arte D.C.) registrato nell'inventario del 1911 che accerta la provenienza del dipinto dal Castello di Moncalieri (n. inv. vecchio 373). Il mandato di scarico del dipinto dall'inventario degli oggetti d'arte del Reale Castello di Moncalieri risale più precisamente al 6 ottobre 1925 e appartiene ad una serie di centotrentaquattro dipinti esistenti nel Regio Castello, scelti dal Principe di Piemonte per essere trasferiti a Torino durante la sua visita dell'11 Agosto 1925 (ACS, Real Casa, Divisione III Carteggio Amministrativo, busta 357, fasc. 2, sfac. Moncalieri. Inventario oggetti d'arte D.C. Stato di consistenza dei valori. Scarico). Da un "Elenco dei Dipinti esistenti nel Real Castello di Moncalieri" datato 12 marzo 1874 sappiamo che il dipinto raffigurante la principessa Eleonora decorava la camera a Pranzo della Corte Mobile del Castello insieme ad altri quattro quadri di diverse principesse sabaude (ACS, Real Casa, Divisione III Carteggio Amministrativo, busta n. 60). Dalla fotografia in b/n n. 134868 che riproduce il retro della tela prima del restauro non risultano presenti iscrizioni ad accezione del n. 5 visibile in alto a sinistra.
