Français : Gravure anonyme reproduisant un tableau d'Eugénie Servières intitulé "Marie Stuart présenté au Salon de Paris de 1822 (numéro 1192 du livret).
La gravure a été publiée dans "La Guirlande des Dames", un almanach français d'Albéric Deville (9e année, 1823) avec la description suivante : "MARIE-STUART, fille de Jacques V, roi d'Ecosse, hérita du trône de son père huit jours après sa naissance, en 1542. Elle épousa en 1558, François Dauphin de France, fils et successeur de Henri II. Ce monarque étant mort deux ans après, elle quitta la France avec beaucoup de regret, et peut-être avec un triste pressentiment des malheurs qui l'attendaient en Ecosse. Mme Servières a représenté cette reine infortunée sur le vaisseau qui la transporte dans son pays natal. Elle aperçoit encore les côtes de France et exprime sa douleur dans une romance qui nous est restée: Adieu, tant doux pays de France! / O ma patrie / La plus chérie, / Qui as nourri ma jeune enfance: / Adieu, France, adieu nos beaux jours! / La nef qui déjoint nos amours / N'a eu de moi que la moitié; / Une part te reste, elle est tienne; / Je la fie à ton amitié, / Pour que de l'autre il te souvienne." |
