Description |
A half-length figure of García of Medici (1547-1562), third son of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosme I of Medici (1519-1474), and his wife, Leonor of Toledo (Ca. 1522 - 1562). The boy is portrayed at the age of three or four on a neutral background. In his right hand he holds an orange blossom and in the left, a small jewel like an amulet. |

Object history | Bronzino became the Florentine aristocracy's favorite portrait painter. With extraordinary technical skill, this painter excelled more at emphasizing the splendor of his sitters' social status than their psychology.
