Beschreibung aus Karl Woermanns Galeriekatalog 1887: Ein Rinderhirt mit seiner Heerde. Der Hirt schreitet nach links gewandt, rechts vorn vor einem alten Weidenbaume hinter seinen sechs Rindern her. In der Mitte des Mittelgrundes auf einer kleinen Anhöhe ein Wagen. Im Hintergrunde ein Kirchturm. Rechts im Mittelgrunde ein Bauernhof unter Bäumen. Bezeichnet links unten:

Eichenholz; h. 0,36; br. 0,49½ m
