Description
English: Unified Silla Dynasty. Of the ten Buddha plates excavated from Wolji, Gyeongju, two are Buddha triads and the rest are contemplative Bodhisattvas, like this one. This Bodhisattva matches the Buddha triads in terms of form and sculpture technique; the lone difference is that this figure’s hands are clasped in front. Two spikes of different lengths extend from the bottom of the pedestal, indicating that the plate was once fixed onto something.
Français : Dynastie Silla unifiée. Bodhisattva aux mains jointes. Plaque bordée de flammes ajourées. Sur les dix plaques de Bouddha originaires de Wolji, Gyeongju, deux sont des triades de Bouddha et les autres sont des Bodhisattvas contemplatifs, comme celui-ci. Ce Bodhisattva correspond aux triades de Bouddha en termes de forme et de technique de sculpture; la seule différence est que les mains de cette figure sont jointes devant. Deux pointes de différentes longueurs s'étendent depuis le bas du piédestal, indiquant que la plaque était déjà fixée sur quelque chose. Par ailleurs, il existe une plaque quasi identique, à part quelques petites partie disparues, au Musée National de Gyeongju, daté vers 680, en bronze doré, H. 24 cm avec les mêmes pattes de fixation. Trésor national 1475.
