Description
English: Picture of a group at the Hôtel de l'Univers in Aden. The man sitting on the right was believed (in 2010) to be be Arthur Rimbaud. 1880. 9.6 × 13.6 cm (3.7 × 5.3 in). Note: person names given in annotation are borrowed from this document.
Français : Photographie (tirage albuminé d’après négatif verre, 9.6 × 13.6 cm (3.7 × 5.3 in)) prise sur le perron de l'Hôtel de l'Univers, à Aden (dans l'actuel Yémen), en 1880. L'homme assis à droite a été pris pour Arthur Rimbaud en 2010 (voir [1]).

La photographie se trouvait dans une caisse ayant appartenu à Jules Suel, le propriétaire de l'hôtel, qui finança les activités de Rimbaud en Abyssinie. Découverte par les libraires Alban Caussé et Jacques Desse, elle est expertisée par Jean-Jacques Lefrère et publiée en 2010. Elle daterait du mois d'août 1880, et serait donc la seule photographie où l'on distingue le visage de Rimbaud adulte. Selon M. Jacques Bienvenu, Rimbaud ne figure pas sur cette photo, car le cliché aurait été réalisé en novembre 1879, avant son arrivée à Aden (voir [2]).
