Description
Dobrze zachowana dziana czapka ma niewielkie odbarwienia od dziegciu. Pompon i dolne frędzle zrobiono z krajki: rozkręconych kawałków przędzy, przeciągniętych przez pasek. Czapka ma cztery ozdobne pasy z kratkami i rombami z kontrastującej przędzy. Badanie wewnątrz ujawniło, że motywy te były robione na drutach splotem Fair Isle (w Polsce częściej określany jako splot norweski), w którym dwa kolory są wplatane w jeden rząd. Romby i kwadraty wykonywano przez splatania, a przędza nieużywanego w danej chwili koloru pozostawała pod spodem do czasu, gdy była potrzebna. Tworzy to charakterystyczny wzór luźnych, poziomych nitek na odwrotnej stronie. Ten styl dziergania jest jeszcze stosowany w Szkocji, więc czapka mogła powstać w tym regionie.
