Der Kreistag des Lahn-Dill-Kreises hat die Annahme der nachstehend beschriebenen Flagge beschlossen, die die Genehmigungsbehörde am 12. März 1981 genehmigte.

„Hissflagge: im Verhältnis 2:3 zum Liek versetzt gelb-blau-geviert, auf der Vierung das Wappen,
Banner: im Verhältnis 1:2 nach oben versetzt gelb-blau-geviert, auf der Vierung das Wappen.“

Die Blasonierung dieses am 4. August 1980 genehmigten Kreiswappens lautet:

„Geteilt: oben in Gold ein rot bewehrter doppelköpfiger schwarzer Adler, beide Köpfe nimbiert; unten gespalten: vorne (links) in Gold ein blaues Jagdhorn mit rotem Band, hinten (rechts) in Blau ein rot bewehrter goldener Löwe von sieben goldenen Schindeln umgeben.“
