Description
English: ‘Tusculum – Amphitheatre dug out by L. Bonaparte’. Pen and ink on blue paper. 1817. Inscribed twice. Prov: 'The De La Hanty Album' of 120 drawings made by Williams on his 1816-1818 Continental Tour. Ex Coll: Probably William Douglas of Orchardton (?1784-1821) who paid for the Tour; ... ; Baron Dr. Cornelius Ver Heydon de Lancy (1889-1984) (m.Josephine De la Hanty before WWII); Stephen Somerville (the album broken up and exhibited 1988). Other drawings from the album are in the British Museum. 16.5x22 inches.
