| Description |
English: Adult but not yet full-grown European Tree Frog (Hyla arborea), sitting on leaves while resting and sunbathing. SVL: ~3.5 cm.
Deutsch: Adulter, aber noch nicht ganz ausgewachsener Laubfrosch (Hyla arborea) mittags beim Sonnenbaden in Ufervegetation an der Alten Jeetzel (Wendland). Das Tier – mit einer Kopf-Rumpf-Länge von schätzungsweise 3,5 cm – klebt in typischer Ruhehaltung mit angelegten Gliedmaßen an einem Blatt. Bei direkter Sonneneinstrahlung (hier durch einen Fotodiffusor kurzzeitig abgeschattet) bekommen Laubfrösche eine besonders glatte, porzellanartig glänzende Haut. Die grüne Färbung macht die Lurche in der dichten Vegetation fast unsichtbar – erst bei genauerem Hinschauen entdeckt man schließlich immer mehr der kleinen Hüpfer. Die überflüssige Unsitte, solche Ufer- und sonstige Randstreifen mitten im Sommer abzumähen, fordert wahrscheinlich hohe Opferzahlen unter den Amphibien (unter Insekten und Spinnen sowieso)! |
