English: The February 5, 1860 issue of Illustreret Tidende had an article about the Danish painter Anton Melbye and about his painting of the French ship of the line Napoleon. The painting was bought by emperor Napoleon III and he gave it to his minister of the Navy, Theodore Ducos, who had worked to get this very advanced vessel built. The illustration was on page 158. |
