Scottish painter and arts activist David Octavius Hill (1802 - 1870) collaborated with the engineer and photographer Robert Adamson between 1843 and 1847 to pioneer many aspects of photography in Scotland. Robert Adamson (1821 - 1848) worked as an engineer in his youth; established Scotland's first calotype studio in Edinburgh in 1843; formed working partnership with artist David Octavius Hill, taking more than 3000 photographs in four years before Adamson's early death. | ||||||||||||||||||||
