Deutsch: Cadolzburger Altar, um 1426 zog sich Kurfürst Friedrich I. (1371–1440) auf die fränkische Cardolzburg zurück und stiftete der Pfarrkirche diesen Altar. Der Altar ist eines der frühesten Beispiele für eine Kunstauftrag der Brandenburgischen Kurfürsten, zu deren Hauptresidenzen die Cadolzburg zählte. 1850 machte der preußische Jurist und Geschichtsforscher Julius v. Minutoli das im Zuge seiner Forschungen über Friedrich I. wiederentdeckte Werk publik. Nach dessen Besichtigung 1873 und auf seinen dringenden Wunsch erhielt Kronprinz Friedrich (III.), diesen als Geschenk. |
