Unanitz

[edit]

The question has arisen as to whether "Unanitz" is the same location as Alatskivi manor in Estonia. In Skånes historia och beskrifning, tredje delen om Malmöhus Län the quote is "Han war född på Alatskivi 1662 (Stjerman i sin Matrikel säger på Unanitz i Ingermanland), och dog i Malmø 1737.", and may be the only other document aside from biographies of Johan Cronman (1662-1737) that repeat the line. The assumption is that Hans Cronman, as the lord of Alatskivi castle, would have all his children born there. The line translates as: "Johan Cronman was born at Alatskivi castle in 1662 (Anders Anton von Stiernman in Matrikel öfwer Swea Rikes Ridderskap och Adel (1731) says that he was born in "Unanitz in Ingermanland") and he died in Malmø in 1737."
