Deutsch: das Gemälde zeigt Artemisia, die um ihren Bruder und gleichzeitigen Gemahl trauert. Der Legende nach soll sie die noch warme Asche ihres Liebsten mit Wasser vermischt zu sich genommen haben, um ihm ein lebendes Grab zu sein. Tischbein stellte dieses Thema mehrfach dar. Neben einer im Jahre 1771 entstanden Zeichnung sind ein 1775 datiertes Ölgemälde und eine 1786 datierte Zweitfassung in Öl überliefert. Die geringen Maße dieses Werkes lassen vermuten, dass es sich um das Modello für die 1775 entstandene Urfassung handelt.[1] |
