Image title | Die Darstellung der Stadt Potsdam geht auf einen Kupferstich von Christian Friedrich Feldmann und Georg Paul Busch (gest. 1756) mit dem Blick auf die Stadt nach den beiden unter Friedrich Wilhelm I. durchgeführten Erweiterungen zurück (Inv.-Nr. 79-59-K2a). Dieser Stich wurde von den Nachfolgern des 1711 in Nürnberg verstorbenen Verlegers Johann Peter Wolff wohl als Teil einer Serie hergestellt. Darauf verweist die am unteren linken Bildrand eingefügte "N: 57". Dem Stich von Busch hinzugefügt wurden die Hinweise auf Friedrich Wilhelms I. Beinamen "Soldatenkönig": im Vordergrund sind zwei mit Säbeln bewaffnete Offiziere zu erkennen, am linken Bildrand erfolgt die Einweisung von Soldaten in den Umgang mit Handgranaten. Auf das Konterfei des Königs verzichtete der unbekannte Stecher. Die Nummerierung der Häuser, Stadttore und Kirchen hingegen übernahm er von Busch ohne Änderungen. [Uta Kaiser] |
