Description
Français : Portrait de l'orfèvre Jean Rameau, beau-père de l'artiste, alors âgé de 75 ans, représenté en plein travail. Jean Rameau était orfèvre à Paris, Place du Carrousel. Rameau lève les yeux de la feuille sur laquelle il est peut-être en train de croquer la sculpture en terre cuite qui est représentée avec beaucoup de minutie sur le tableau. Le sujet n’a pas été choisi par hasard, car l’orfèvre obtint sa maîtrise avec une représentation des Vestales portant le feu sacré.
