English: Collection of the artist, until 1797; thence to Harriet Wright (1778–1860), second daughter of the artist, and by whom brought to Australia in 1842, until 1860; by descent to Frederic Cade (1802–78), South Yarra, Melbourne, until 1878; then to Joseph Wright Cade (1845–1917), South Yarra, Melbourne, until 1917; by descent to Harry Lionel Wright Cade (1883–1953), South Yarra, Melbourne, until 1953; then to his widow Beryl E. Cade (1892–1975), South Yarra, Melbourne, until 1975; then by descent (jointly owned) to Joseph Wright Cade (1912–2006) and Elizabeth Ferguson Cade, from 1975; collection of Joseph Wright Cade (1912–2006) (sole ownership) and his wife Alina, until 2006; gifted to the National Gallery of Victoria by Alina Cade in memory of her husband, 2009.
