Description
Français : La Fontaine de Jouvence est un bassin rempli d'eau, alimenté par une fontaine ornée de Vénus et de Cupidon. Le paysage rocheux et désolé situé au fond à gauche symbolise la vieillesse, alors que la jeunesse est évoquée à droite par un verger et des champs cultivés. Des femmes âgées arrivent par différents moyens de transport sur la gauche du bassin. Un médecin examine certaines d'entre elles, d'autres sont effrayées par le lieu. Le bain dans la fontaine leur redonne la jeunesse. A nouveau jeunes filles, elles sortent de l'eau à droite et pénètrent dans des tentes où elles sont richement habillées pour immédiatement retrouver les plaisirs de la vie (amour, repas, danse, promenade,..). Le tableau ne traite que de la jouvence des femmes, en sous-entendant que ce sont elles qui redonnent la jeunesse aux hommes.
