| Description |
English: Demonstration of effects of a light diffuser in close-up photography. Left a young tree frog (Hyla arborea) sitting in direct sunlight on sedge leaves. With the help of a diffuser (in this case a white fabric-covered "studio umbrella"; middle image) then the situation was shaded artificially. The result is shown in the right image: The previously hard light and shadow contrasts were alleviated, "blown-out" highlight areas avoided, harsh shadows eliminated and the background was calmed a bit. A similar effect would have had a bright cloud in front of the sun.
Deutsch: Demonstration der Wirkung eines Lichtdiffusors in der Nahfotografie. Links sitzt ein junger Laubfrosch (Hyla arborea) im direkten Sonnenlicht auf Seggenblättern an einem Gewässerufer. Mit Hilfe eines Diffusors (in dem Fall ein mit weißem Stoff bespannter "Studioschirm"; mittl. Bild) wurde dann die Situation künstlich abgeschattet. Das Ergebnis ist im rechten Bild zu sehen: Die zuvor harten Licht-Schatten-Kontraste wurden gemildert, "ausgefressene" Spitzlichtbereiche vermieden, harte Schlagschatten eliminiert und der Hintergrund etwas beruhigt. Eine ähnliche Wirkung hätte auch eine helle Wolke vor der Sonne gehabt (leider kann man sich die aber nicht bestellen ;-). |
