Danneskjold-Samsøe writes about the painting (in Danish): 'Leonora Christina in Maribo Monastery is painted over the phrase "The Countess’ most important occupation was fearing God". The interior is featured with among other things a colorful chair; the figure is seen in profile against the window, she seems significant and serious, superbly characterized as an old woman."
