English: Satire on the laying of the transatlantic telegraph cable, July 1866: grotesque figures of Britannia and a native american, based on the famous "Siamese Twins", are joined by the "cable transatlantique" in the form of a strip of flesh joining their waists; Britannia holds a trident and a shield labelled "Albion", a bulldog at her feet; the native American brandishes a club, a barrel of tobacco at his feet; published in "Le Charivari". 1866
