Description
English: A view looking north on Jarvis Street, from the Esplanade. St. Lawrence Market is visible on the left of the photograph, behind the freight car. Although this was one of the older parts of the city at the time this photograph was taken, the streets were not yet paved. The railway tracks are at street level, meaning that the trains travelled in the same road allowance as pedestrians and other traffic.
